The Register of Special Places contains areas that are worthy of better protection and management, and have a great potential as new 'small' parks.
Protection of these sites would contribute greatly to improving connectivity and building climate change resilience across the Victorian landscape.
These Special Places cover a total area of 115,000 hectares of land with high conservation value, of which 111,000 is currently state forest and not managed for conservation.
Below is a map of Victoria with a representation of the Central Victoria region where the Special Places can be found.
